WILL OUR CULTURE SURVIVE WITHOUT THE ARTS?
Like the pictures of a book, the arts are the pages of a culture. It is how stories were told and passed down through generations, and how traditions were preserved. The arts have been with us from the very beginning. Since nomadic peoples first sang and danced for their ancestors, since hunters first painted their quarry on the walls of caves, since parents first acted out the stories of heroes to their children, the arts have defined, described and deepened human experience.

The Arts are an integral part of our everyday lives, an essential and inseparable component of culture. Through its arts, a society refines and develops its culture by creating new cultural products and expressions. Participation in the arts leads to healthy, stable individuals and helps promote the social and economic well being of communities. The arts contribute to our heritage by leaving a legacy of our culture through paintings, design, music and drama.
